Trauma responses and coping patterns

You learned to be easy to love.

You became the dependable one, the high achiever, the people-pleaser, the one everyone turns to. You learned to anticipate others’ needs while putting your own aside.

People pleasing · Perfectionism · Overthinking

You learned to hold it all together.

Now you may be overthinking, masking, second-guessing, or constantly anticipating what could go wrong. You understand your patterns, but you’re still tired, anxious, and disconnected from what you actually need.

Katarina Bennicoff Yundt MS, LCAT, BC‑DMT

What if you didn’t have to hold everything together? I work with adults and couples navigating trauma, anxiety, people-pleasing, perfectionism, overthinking, and neurodivergence so they can feel more grounded in themselves, trust their own needs, and live with greater freedom and authenticity.

I’m a Brooklyn-based therapist offering somatic and trauma-informed therapy. I know what it’s like to be capable on the outside while feeling anxious, uncertain, and disconnected from your own needs underneath. Growing up, I often cared for others while putting myself aside. Those experiences shaped my path into this work and how I support others today.

Therapy isn’t about changing who you are. It’s about feeling more comfortable, connected, and at home in yourself.

Therapy That Meets You Where You Are

How somatic + trauma therapy in NYC can help.

We’ll integrate talking with creative, experiential, and somatic therapy approaches. Sessions may include reflection, conversation, creative expression, and body-based awareness, depending on what feels most supportive.

Body based somatic practices

Uncovering the innate wisdom of what your body already knows. Support your body with completing the natural stress and trauma response cycle so you can move out of chronic survival mode.

Experiential therapy

Explore the present moment through feelings, body awareness, and creative or relational experiences. Understand how your past, present, and future inform each other.

Compassion-based therapy

Soften self-criticism, build a kinder relationship with yourself, and respond to difficult experiences with greater understanding. Tackle shame and self-criticism by building self-compassion and emotional regulation skills.

Parts work

Meeting the parts of you that learned to protect you and creating new experiences that shift how those patterns feel and function. Build trust, curiosity, and compassion to release the painful beliefs and heavy emotions you have carried for years.

The practical part

The details, made simple.
